Dustmop – My Promise for 2025

What prevents me from preferring nothing whatever to Christ?

I spend a lot of time napping on the porch.  When I do this, it feels good.  But I miss opportunities to visit my friends in the neighborhood.  That means that I miss opportunities to spread the love of Jesus.  My napping shows that I prefer myself over Christ!

Practices from the Rule to help me craft my promise:

Do not gratify the promptings of the flesh (Gal 5:16); hate the urgings of self-will.”  RB 4.59-60

“Your way of acting should be different from the world’s way; the love of Christ must come before all else.”  RB 4.20-21

“Never give a hollow greeting of peace or turn away when someone needs your love.”  RB 4.25-26

My 2025 Promise:

I promise to be aware of how much time I am napping.  I promise then to cut this time in half for a start.  With this new-found time I will roam through the neighborhood sharing the love of Jesus.

What my human needs to learn to help her prefer nothing whatever to Christ:

My human needs to learn more patience.  She also needs to step away from busyness and sit in the sun.  I think this would help her be more patient!

Practices from the Rule to help my human craft her promise:

“Place your hope in God alone.”  RB 4.41

“Yet, all things are to be done with moderation on account of the fainthearted.”  RB 48.9

“…after Sext and their meal, they may rest on their beds in complete silence.”   RB 48.5a

My Human’s 2025 Promise:

Dustmop asks you to join him and craft your own 2025 Promise.
